Renaissance Woman or Nut Case, You Make the Call

Ok, so I've always thought of myself as a renaissance woman -- a woman who has acquired profound knowledge or proficiency in more than one field -- because I have so many varied interests. My attention span is kinda short so I have to have at least 3 projects in the works, 4 books that I'm reading at once, and 2 things I'm trying to teach myself. Hey, it's my kind of therapy AND it's cheaper than a real therapist (probably...in the long run...all things considered....well maybe not...I don't care).

Remember that Hank Williams Jr song, "Country Boy Can Survive"? You know--"I can plow a field all day long. I can catch catfish from dusk till dawn." If I had Weird Al Yankovic's talent I could write a parody of that song about my life. I do know how to play the accordion (by the way).
Let's try it... ahem me me me me

Glenn Beck says its the end of time
Had so much rain that it'll never get dry.

Gas prices up and confidence is down
And you get strange looks when you go downtown.

I live on a dirt road, you see
The Cowboy and The Princess, dogs, cats, chickens & me

I got a Kitchen Aid mixer
And some 4-wheel drives
And a country girl can survive
Country folks can survive

I can sell feed all day long
I can make apple butter from dusk till dawn

I make my own biscuits and some coon traps too
Aint too many things this ol' girl can't do

I grow great big tomatoes and cucumber vine
And a country girl can survive
Country folks can survive

Because you can't keep us down
And you can't make us run
We aint afraid to use a shotgun
We bake cakes; we sell jam
If you ain't into that, we don't give a... darn

That's all I got for now. I made up the part about making my own coon traps...that's the Cowboy's job...I just thought it sounded cool---poetic license.

Here's what I'm working on now: crocheting a baby blanket for some friends with a little one on the way; raising some little chickens; getting ready to garden (when it dries up); tending my berry patches (I'll have berries for sale again this year); making a clothes pin bag for Christine; & reading 4 books. Oh yeah, and selling feed full time and taking care of the house and family. Still going to learn to drive a tractor and shoot a gun.

Am I a renaissance woman or a nut case? You make the call.

  1. You taught me your Renaissance ways, so if you're a nut, I'm a nut <3
