train depot back in the day.. see the little bay window area? Cute! |
The little structure has an interesting history. It's life began as a train depot in the tiny town a mile north of the farm. When the rail went out years ago, the abandoned depot was moved here for the tenant to live in.
The "remodel" from train depot to home done decades ago was apparently the "roof-over-yer-head" method .....where the eye for perfection had been poked out. But it's got potential!!! A great (and I mean g-r-e-a-t) thing is...its kitchen, bath, and flooring are already updated!!
Another upside? Cowboy and I are experts at making silk purses out of sows' ears. We like a seemingly impossible challenge. When it's too rough for everyone else, it's just about right for us.
PAINT! It's amazing what a coat of paint will do.
The living room...we painted the paneling. Hey 1969, you can have your paneling back! Did you really think it was that great of an idea? |
I can't wait to show you how the living room will look once we furnish it. Here's a little area I decorated in the kitchen....
A little vignette I put together in the bay window area. I looked both ways and sang, "I hear the train a-comin'." I crack myself up sometimes. |
We enjoyed a wonderful visit from Peach, Boy Wonder and Baby J....ice cream in the afternoon at the walk-up ice cream shop in the little town....pizza for supper from the grocery store pizza parlor in the little town. Cowboy begged them to stay overnight. They couldn't. Darn.
I'll post more pictures of the decorating process. I'm leaning a little toward the old west style. We'll see.
