Since Cowboy has Ranch Hand to help, there's not much for me to do. It makes for somewhat of a boring day. So I have to invent things to do. I'm imaginative...I think. So I took a hike. Went down this interesting lane. It was, until recently, blocked by a huge tree that had fallen across. Cowboy, et al cleared it so he could drive down it when necessary.

Here's the frog pond you've heard me tell about. As I walked along its banks, frogs who had been sunning themselves leaped into the pond, one by one. Just before a frog leaped it would let out a loud "peep" as if to alert the others on down the bank. Because they're so swift, I didn't see them--only the ripples in the water.
At about the center of this picture is the end of the tiny stream where I "panned" for gold a couple months ago (remember my Gold blog?)

The alfalfa field we planted last year is doing so fabulously!! I wish my camera lens could have better captured the beauty of this view.... I was standing on a grassy hill overlooking the alfalfa field valley. {Incidentally, I got to drive the tractor when we baled the last cutting on this field last summer! Crossing another thing off my bucket list!. }
Hidden in the woods beyond is the creek. One of my favorite scenes in Spring is a woods filled with several species of trees, each one unique in texture and in hue.

Fixing the drainage in the barn lot. The excavator removed the foundation of a silo. The tractors are getting the field ready for alfalfa seed. The skidloader made the swales for the water ways. My job was to write down some the measurements Cowboy shouted out. It had something to do with inches of fall in so many feet and what the reading on the laser story pole should be...torture for my brain...I purposely tuned out all blathering except for numbers and fractions. I just wrote them in the order he called them...so somehow I looked like a genius when I was miraculously able to tell him the correct measurements. I'm glad there won't be a final exam on this stuff....or will there?

I finally went to the grocery...there is now food...edible food. So I'm gonna cook something. Look for my creation in the farm girl's kitchen blog.
