Sew Begins the Sewing Frenzy! Sew I Name My Appliances! Sew What?

I'm back in the saddle again....after a wee Christmas break.  So, anyway, Happy New Year!!!  I didn't/couldn't stay up to watch the ball drop.  So, I don't know if it's a good way to start the new year...but I'm going to believe it's good...and besides, since when is getting enough sleep bad?  I knew when I opened my eyes in the morning it would be the new year....why torture myself by staying up past my bed time?  That's my story, anyway.

One of the cows had a calf on New Year's Eve....I hope it's a heifer...I want to name her Eve.  Momma cow, Clever, won't let us near the baby....sooooo.  I'll have a chance fairly soon to get a good look...I have to know what to call it.  If I leave things like that up to Cowboy, nothing would be named.  I like naming things...kids, pets, cars, trucks, appliances...don't laugh.  Ok, laugh... You'll get a glimpse of this one of my many eccentricities if you keep reading.....
Gertie, my workhorse sewing machine

A couple months ago I bought myself a new sewing machine (her picture is at the bottom of the page) ....I have 2 already, but I need a portable one to use when I'm at the ranch with Cowboy...which I am this week.  My new machine is almost exactly like my 1957 Gertie (right), in a new modern outfit.  I know this new thing is made to be easier to use....but I miss Gertie...I know Gertie.  I learned how to sew on my mom's portable Gertie-twin.  Gertie has made sooo much:  including formal dresses (how chic!)                                       Look at Gertie here ----->

Marjorie, my first sewing machine

My grandmother gave me her Singer (which I named Marjorie in her honor) when I was younger.  Marjorie sews a wonderful straight stitch...unmatched performance...but that's all she can do.  But I love her...she made some of my outfits and things for the house...and Peach's and Princess' first Halloween costumes.

<------isn't she adorable?

Martha, the new kid in town

Here's Martha, the new machine   ------->
I'm going to learn to love her as much as I do her predecessors.  She and I have a date with destiny.........

Peach and I picked out patterns and fabrics for the new baby's nursery.....stay tuned!!  It may be a long winter.....

So are you, like me, so over Christmas ham?  What's for breakfast?  Ham and eggs.  Dinner?  Ham sandwiches.  Supper?  Ham and beans.  What's this in the freezer...ham...ham bone.  Don't get me wrong...I love ham; I'm thankful for ham; ham.
